Once again our wonderful city of Atlanta completely shut down for a 2 inch snow "storm." It started snowing on Tuesday around noon, and by 1:00 everyone was on the road racing to get home. The combination of everyone leaving work / school at the same time, snow coming down quickly and roads becoming sheets of ice let to an Atlanta rush hour disaster. What usually takes John 30 minutes to commute, took 2 hours and 45 minutes. However, he was one of the lucky ones. Some people had to spend the night in their cars, in hotel lobbies and in stores that stayed open all night. The kids got 2 days out of school and enjoyed every second. Snow is predicted again next weekend. We will cross our fingers for no ice!!!

Disneyworld Half Marathon
It's that time of year again...Disney time! This year, instead of running the Princess Half, we decided to run the Disney World Half. My friend Emily was brave and decided to run the full marathon this year. Since I only like to run so I can take fun trips, I decided to stick with the half! I did, however, talk my sister-in-law Erica into running with me this year. I'm not sure she knew what she was getting herself into! Wouldn't you know it, Orlando had a heat wave the weekend of the race. We started at 5:30 in the morning and it was already 71 degrees with 99% humidity. Not ideal race conditions, especially when you trained in 30-40 degree weather! Neither of us had a personal best, but we finished and had a great time. Who knows, maybe we will sign up for the marathon next time!!!
We were first in line to see Mickey on Friday morning!
Cinderella's castle with the sun in their eyes!
Ben's favorite characters
Chef Mickeys
My cheering squad!
We ran into Mary Poppins!
Agent Oso
Cousins with matching shirts!
Before the race - we look really tired - It was 5 in the morning!!!

Christmas 2013
Christmas 2013 has come and gone. We had a great one. We celebrated Christmas dad at home with the Bell and Land families. The day after Christmas, we headed to Asheville to celebrate with the Hamricks and Orrs. The kids got too much stuff, the adults ate too much food, and everyone had fun in the process. Until next year...

Thanksgiving in Asheville
This is the first Thanksgiving since Gram and Grandy moved to Asheville. We were able to travel and spend some time with all of the family. It was pretty cold and we actually saw some snow. The kids loved playing with their cousins and spending time around the fire pit. Aunt Erica and I took all the kids to the movie theater to see Frozen, which was excellent. It was hard to say goodbye, but we will be back to Asheville in a few short weeks for Christmas. We're hoping for more snow next time! Happy Thanksgiving!
